Guests in conversation at a candlelit table in a wood-panelled room

WEF Davos 2027 · Monday 18 – Friday 22 January

Davos for podcasters, creators and broadcasters

For one week the guests every show wants are in the same few streets. For a podcast or a video show the question is where to put the microphones, and what the rules allow after the 15 August permit deadline.

We look for enclosed studio space that fits the rules: hotel boardrooms and suites, private chalets and apartments, checked with the owner for filming, lighting and power. We never name who we work for, and introductions happen only by mutual agreement.

What the 15 August deadline means for a studio

A pop-up booth on the street is a temporary structure, and a shop turned into a studio is a venue conversion. Both needed a building permit applied for by 15 August 2026, and the municipality of Davos capped the total at 125 projects. As reported, a narrow list of large media organisations with WEF membership can keep building as before. Independent shows are not on it.

What stays open is an enclosed studio inside a hotel, a private chalet or an apartment, with the owner's written consent and nothing branded visible from the street.

The full rules after 15 August

What makes a good studio in Davos

These are the checks we make with the owner before we put a space to you. A standard holiday rental usually does not allow commercial filming, so we ask for it in writing.

  • Walls and a door between you and the neighbours. Ask what is next door.
  • Which way the windows face, and how much street and road noise reaches the room.
  • Power: how many circuits the room has and what the building allows, before the lights and equipment arrive.
  • Wi-Fi that holds with a full crew, or a wired line.
  • Ceiling height and room to place lights and cameras.
  • Where the crew loads in, and whether equipment cases fit the lift or the stairs.
  • Blinds or film on every street-facing window, and nothing branded visible from outside.
  • Written consent for filming, lighting and a crew, and for catering or guests if you bring them.

Getting your guests to the door

Inside the security perimeter, reaching a door means a checkpoint, and an unbadged crew with cases needs arrangements in advance. Outside it, anyone can walk or drive to the door. Choose a location outside the perimeter and within walking distance of the Promenade, so guests moving between sessions can reach you.

The perimeter is redrawn every year, so we check the current line against the exact address, and we measure the real walk to the Congress Centre.

Accreditation and filming

Inside the Congress Centre, media accreditation is issued by the World Economic Forum. Davos Access cannot arrange it. Outside the Congress Centre, filming depends on whoever hosts each space or event, so ask the host before you set up.

The 2027 side events list shows which Houses, summits and dinners are announced, with the host's own page for each.

How it works

Send your days, the number of people, the number of cameras and whether you also need beds. We reply with spaces we can check, what each one allows and what it costs. Each space comes with its own written quote and terms.

We never name who we work for, and introductions happen only by mutual agreement. Twelve years in Davos, first as HomeDavos and now as Davos Access.

Questions people ask

Can a podcast build a pop-up studio on the Promenade after 15 August?
No. A street-level booth is a temporary structure and a shopfront turned into a studio is a venue conversion. Both needed a building permit applied for by 15 August 2026, and the municipality capped the total at 125 projects. As reported, a narrow list of large media organisations with WEF membership can keep building as before. Independent shows are not on it.

The way forward

Record in an enclosed studio instead: a hotel boardroom or suite, a chalet or an apartment, which we check with the owner for power, sound and filming. Or ask us whether a host that already holds a permit can include your show, which we check is allowed before you commit. Or submit for 2028 and plan a studio before the next permit deadline.

What is the best layout for a podcast or video studio in Davos?
An enclosed room: a hotel boardroom or suite, or the living room of a private chalet or apartment. Acoustic panels, lights and several cameras can go inside with the owner's written OK, and the production stays inside the property with nothing branded visible from the street.
How do we keep street noise out of a recording?
Choose a room away from the street and ask which way its windows face, what is next door and how thick the walls are. Traffic, crowds and snow clearing are part of WEF week. We ask the owner about neighbours and road noise before we put a space to you.
Can we film with several cameras and lights in a rented apartment?
Yes, if the owner agrees in writing. A standard holiday rental usually does not allow commercial filming, so we ask for written consent that covers filming, lighting, the power the equipment draws and your crew.
Do our guests need a WEF badge to reach the studio?
Not outside the security perimeter. The Cantonal Police redraw the perimeter every year, and inside it access is controlled, so an unbadged crew with equipment cases needs arrangements in advance. In 2026 it covered Talstrasse 40 to 55 and Promenade 85 to 115 and 155 to 165. We check the current line against the address.
Do we need accreditation to film or interview at WEF?
Inside the Congress Centre, yes: media accreditation is issued by the World Economic Forum and nobody can sell it. Outside it, you need the agreement of whoever hosts each space or event. Davos Access is independent of the Forum and does not arrange accreditation.

The way forward

Apply to the Forum for the Congress Centre. Outside it, we help with the space and with introductions to hosts, when both sides agree.

Can we book a studio for a day or two?
Often, depending on the hotel. A boardroom or suite can sometimes be taken for fewer days, while chalets and central apartments usually let for the whole week. Tell us the days and how many cameras you need.
Can you book guests for our show?
No, we find the space. The Side Stage lists speakers by topic and where they speak, and the 2027 side events list shows which hosts are announced. We make introductions only when both sides have agreed.

The way forward

Tell us who you hope to have on the show and we say what we can do, by mutual agreement. The Side Stage speakers list and the 2027 side events list show who is speaking where.

Do you say which shows you work with?
No. We do not publish who asked us for what, or who stayed where.

The way forward

If you want to hear from someone who has worked with us, we ask them first and pass on contact only if they agree.
