Cameras and an audience seen from behind during a filmed session in a hall in Davos

WEF Davos 2027 · Monday 18 – Friday 22 January

Davos for journalists and media

The official programme runs inside the Congress Centre, and most of what surrounds it runs outside: Houses, dinners, panels and receptions across the whole town. For a reporter the week is two beats at once.

This is a working guide to the second one: how to get into the side events without a WEF badge, who speaks on your topic, where to work and where to stay.

Accreditation belongs to the Forum

Media accreditation for the Congress Centre is issued by the World Economic Forum, and Davos Access cannot arrange it. Apply through the Forum's media team and check its deadlines.

Outside the Congress Centre most of the week is open to people without it. The side events need a registration, an application or an invitation from their host, not a WEF badge, so ask each host about press access.

Where the stories are outside the Congress Centre

In 2026 we mapped 497 side events across 42 venues. For 2027 we list the events as hosts announce them, 62 so far, each with the host's own page, the dates and how you get in. These were the largest subjects in 2026. Each one opens the directory filtered to it.

Finding speakers and sources

The Side Stage lists speakers by topic and shows which side events they speak at, so you can plan a day around the people you need. The Davos Access AI connector answers the same questions from the same public data.

Where to work

Hotel lobbies and Promenade venues are crowded and loud. For a call, a live hit or an interview you want a room with a door and a connection that holds, and we check both with the owner: a hotel meeting room, or a private room in an apartment or chalet.

For 2027 a new street-level studio can no longer be built, because the permit deadline was 15 August 2026. An enclosed room in a hotel, a chalet or an apartment still works, with the owner's written OK and nothing branded visible from the street.

Where to stay

Walking distance to the Congress Centre saves the most time in a week of back-to-back sessions, and central places let for the whole week. Klosters gives more space at about 25 minutes by train. We measure the real walk to each address.

Questions people ask

Do journalists need a WEF badge to cover Davos week?
For the Congress Centre, yes: media accreditation is issued by the World Economic Forum. For most of the side events, no. Each host decides whether you need to register, apply or be invited, and each listing on our side events page says which. Ask the host about press access before you travel.

Can Davos Access arrange accreditation?
No. Accreditation is issued by the Forum and nobody can sell it. Davos Access is independent of the Forum, and we help with everything around it.

How many side events are there in Davos week?
In 2026 we mapped 497 side events across 42 venues, each with how you get in. For 2027 we list the events as their hosts announce them: 62 so far, each with the host's own page and a label for how sure the date is.
How do I find who is speaking on my topic?
The Side Stage lists speakers by topic and shows the side events they speak at. The Davos Access AI connector answers the same question from the same public data.
Where do interviews and broadcasts happen outside the Congress Centre?
In the Houses and media studios along the Promenade and in hotels. Under the 2027 rules no new street-level studio can be built, because the permit deadline was 15 August 2026. Independent crews work from enclosed rooms in hotels, chalets and apartments, with the owner's written OK.
Where can I find a quiet room for a live hit or a call?
A hotel meeting room or a private room in an apartment, away from the street. Send us the day and the time and we check the walls, the noise and the connection with the owner.
How can I check an event's date and access?
Every listing on the 2027 side events page links to the host's own page and carries a label: dates confirmed, dates to confirm, expected to return, or waiting for confirmation. Hosts move dates and venues, so confirm with the host before you travel.
Where should a reporter stay?
Within walking distance of the Congress Centre if you can. Central options fill six to nine months ahead, so for January 2027 what remains is limited and changes by the day. Klosters is about 25 minutes away by train.
Can I quote Davos Access or use its figures?
Yes. Quote and link to us freely, and credit Davos Access. Please ask before you republish larger parts of the side event directory.
