Inner-zone chalets and apartments move fastest — most get placed between July and September. Past that window, Davos Dorf is the strongest realistic play: still walkable to the centre, and consistently has more late availability than Platz.
Outer-zone housing and the Klosters/Landquart/Chur corridor stay open the longest, and with the right transit plan — anchored to the RhB rail line rather than driving — they're a genuinely workable base, not just a consolation prize.

The fallback towns, honestly compared

Klosters: about 25 minutes by train, calmer and often better value than Davos itself. The trade-off is living on the timetable rather than the clock.
Landquart: a reasonable-looking drive that actually sits below the security perimeter, meaning a checkpoint every morning rather than a shortcut.
Chur: the furthest fallback, and a genuine commute — but a real option for a team with flexible mornings and a driver who knows the route.
None of these cost less once you count the time. A premium room in Davos Dorf that gets you to the Promenade by 07:30 is usually worth more than a cheap room ninety minutes away.

Getting into the week without a White Badge

One scheduling trap worth knowing: the Schatzalp funicular

If a meeting or venue involves the Schatzalp, build in the funicular's fixed uphill window, and expect a queue at the bottom right after the lunch panels wrap, around 14:30–15:30.
Schedule Schatzalp meetings before 11:00 or after 16:00 and it's a non-issue. Book one for 13:00 and it can trap your guests in a queue.
